Diwakar has over two decades of rich industry experience. He has been on True North’s Board of Advisors during 2014-15 before taking a break between 2015-20, and rejoining in 2021.
Until 2020, he was the Vice-President for Private Sector and Public-Private Partnerships at the Asian Development Bank (ADB). He oversaw ADB’s assistance to private sector projects with a clear development impact but limited access to capital.
Earlier, he was Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of the State Bank of India, where he was responsible for setting strategies and direction alongside other members of the State Bank’s Central Management Committee. He had joined the Bank in 1974 and held several leadership positions at its various units and subsidiaries over the years. He has also worked as an Independent Director on the Boards of several business councils, financial services companies and other private organizations in India.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics (Honors) from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi
followed by a Master of Science degree in Physics from the University of Delhi.
