It was first proposed in 1992, at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development assembly in Rio De Janeiro. As a result, 22 March of each year was declared as World Day of Water.

On this day, all across the world, people celebrate this resource and raise awareness about 2.2 billion people who are living without access to water.1

Some simple and easy water conservation strategies for kids are:

  • Turning off taps while brushing, and taking quick showers.
  • Using a bucket and sponge instead of a hose for washing bicycles and vehicles.
